I picked up this vintage set of Libbey Gibraltar coolers to complement a like-colored mid-century Viking Glass Georgian ice lipped jug in blue charcoal that I have since sold. Libbey introduced the six-paneled Gibraltar design in clear glass in a catalog in the 1970s and within a year added colored glass to the collection. Dusky Blue along with several others colors were added in 1994 but discontinued in 2009. In all, Libbey offered Gibraltar in approximately twelve colors. Gibraltar is made from Libbey’s DuraTuff glass which is an innovative strengthening and heat-treating after-process that incorporates more mechanical strength and thermal shock resistance than regular glasses. This gorgeous set of five coolers are in excellent condition with minimal wear. The dusky blue color is a rich blue with minimal grey undertones that tends to look dark to light, depending on lighting. Each cooler measures 6¼” x 3½” x 2¼” H/W/D; capacity 16 oz. apiece; together the set weighs 5 lbs. 4 oz. A great add if you already own other dusky blue Gibraltar glassware and are in need of more!
