Battleship - John Stevens Italia 2011 - Oil on canvas cm. 100x150
In this precious oil painting Stevens is inspired by the sea battles of the English painter Derek George Montague Gardner who, after a career as a civil engineer before and after serving in the Royal Navy during World War II, was widely recognized as one of the leading painters English of marine subjects.
Here we notice a great mastery in Stevens' ability to convey color, brightness and all the drama of the wind and the sea. We also admire his ability to portray ships with great accuracy and attention to detail, the result of many hours of painstaking research and preparation.
