The picture is inspired by the work of Abraham Van Beyeren Dutch painter of the Baroque era one of the greatest painters of a mortai nature. The composition of the painting in question can be characterized as a simpler version of a type of banquet or pronkstilleven that He flourished in Antwerp in the forties of the seventeenth century. In this 'Pronkstilleven' (Dutch for 'sumptuous still lifes') De Robertis depicts a great variety of luxury objects, such as the cup and the silver tray, the Venetian glass, shrimp and different fruit varieties. They are expressions of wealth as well as a demonstration of the artist's pictorial virtuosity.
