Superb practical piece of mid century storage by the czech maker up zavody. Czech was a large producer of high quality mid century furniture following the surge of modernism originated by the bauhaus school. The cabinet features three good sized drawers at the bottom with solid handles. Internal drawer dimensions 72w x 38l x 9h) above these sit a small shelf (75w x 44l x 18h). The top features a pull down flap opening to reveal a beautifully made and practical desk, the desk retains the original key. To give a sense of scale the bottom desk compartment is 75w x 36l x 16h all cm. The little vertical filing compartments are 5w x 20l x 15h. The top desk shelf is 75w x 20l x 8h. The space below the drawer is 33w x 20l x 10h. The whole cabinet is made in a mixture of sapele, oak and birch veneers, beautifully made and in exceptional condition. The cabinet sits on an dark oak frame. Our workshop has gently restored the cabinet and all doors and drawers open smoothly. Distance from floor to desk surface is 79cm. The patchy mark on the right leg as viewed from the front is actually the original makers label which we left in situ but it could be removed if required.
