Handwoven in wool, an antique Verneh kilim rug originating from Russia circa 1920-1930, joining our coveted flat weave collection.
The rare piece features the finest embroidered geometric patterns and rows of color, seldom seen even in the highly celebrated Verneh tribal style. Distinguished from similar Russian Caucasian kilims, the 5x14 flatweave is a work of outstanding finesse with only one piece in restoration. The rare scale excites the eye with a distinctive red, black, gold, beige-brown colorway marking a one of a kind repetition & artistic vision, given the era it belongs to. A fabulous collectible worthy of being in a collector’s repertoire.
Connoisseurs may note this piece may not be suitable for flooring given its condition and notable wear in the field. Possible alternatives include wall-hanging, piano covers, blanketing, table covers and similar applications.
