Fine quality Impressionist oil on canvas by listed French artist, Charles Deshayes (1831-1895). This large still life painting depicts a vignette of champagne, crystal glasses and lucious pomegranate fruit. The work is executed with brilliant detail and a superb use of color. The viewer is invited to partake in the delightful repast. One of the fruits has been broken open revealing its glistening seeds next to some broken sweet biscuits. Pour the champagne! Signed and dated 1895, lower left and displayed in its giltwood swept frame. Provenance, private French collection. Sight: 21.75"L x 18.25"H
Born 9 November 1831, in Toulon; died 1895. Deshayes studied under F. L. Français and Sénéquier and made his painting début at the Paris Salon in 1864. Using a subtle blend of colours, he portrayed light effects on the Île-de-France and Paris landscapes at different times of the day. Many museum and Gallery Holdings.
Auction hammer prices for this artist exceed $13,500.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller

Cancellations
