Japanese scroll of Shoki the Demon Queller, finely drawn with red inks on paper, signed by Fujiwara no Mugurasako Kinga … Read more Japanese scroll of Shoki the Demon Queller, finely drawn with red inks on paper, signed by Fujiwara no Mugurasako Kinga followed by a red kakihan or seal mark of the artist. The inscription says “respectfully drawn by Mugurasako of the Fujiwara clan”. Mounted on violet and cream paper nakamawashi in a horizontal scratch pattern, with gold and umber silk brocade ichimonji at the top and bottom of the image. The ten and ji are a gray and white paper in a random scratch pattern, the ten has fixed cream paper futai in a floral pattern. The makio and kakio are purple colored flat silk cord. Black jikusaki are at the bottom of the scroll. The outside scroll cover is a light gold colored raw silk. Image size is 11 1/2" wide x 36 1/4" high. Circa late 19th century. See less
