A fine oil on canvas painting by Agnes Augusta Talboys (1863-1940/41), delightfully titled "Pussies in conference," signed lower right and … Read more A fine oil on canvas painting by Agnes Augusta Talboys (1863-1940/41), delightfully titled "Pussies in conference," signed lower right and also inscribed on a label verso, late 19th century in date. The painting delightfully presents a litter of six Persian kittens on a Persian rug. The artist used very vibrant colours to add some mystery to the scenery and contrast the vivid light in the background. Housed in its beautiful and original giltwood frame. Provenance: Colmore Galleries Limited, Warwickshire. Condition: In excellent condition, the painting and frame having been carefully cleaned in our workshops; please see photos for confirmation.

Agnes Augusta Talboys was born in Bristol. She was elected as an associate of the Royal West Academy. She also exhibited work at The Royal Society of Artists; she specialised in painting cats, especially Persians. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
