(1887-1938) the plaque is framed in his original oak wooden frame the measurements are: plaque 36.5 cm high and 49.5 cm wide framed 54 cm high, 67 cm wide and the depth is 4.5 cm weight in total is 6.5 kilos philips wouwerman (1619-1668 haarlem) he was the son of the dutch alkmaar painter pouwels joostensz. Wouwerman. Wouwerman was a student of his father and of frans hals. In 1638 he traveled with his fiancé to hamburg to get married there. In 1640 he is listed in the guild of haarlem. He died on may 19, 1668 and was buried on may 23 in the nieuwe kerk in haarlem. Wouwerman is an extraordinary talent and none of the horse painters of his own time, nor from the later centuries has surpassed him as a draftsman and colorist. He was very popular in his day and managed to create demand for his work. A lot of money was paid for his paintings in the 18th century. Stadtholder willem v even paid 4575 guilders for one canvas, more than was ever paid for a rembrandt or vermeer at that time. Frederick the great had pictures of wouwerman copied on a set, and then gave it to catherine the great as a gift. Despite this, wouwerman is hardly known anymore, especially among the general public. Philips wouwerman was the best known among the wouwermans. In 2009/2010, the first retrospective exhibition of his work ever took place in the mauritshuis in the hague and in the gemäldegalerie alter meister in kassel, germany. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
