Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.

When the state of our planet and the fate of its inhabitants became a cause for alarm, Warhol created art works to reflect that concern. His 1983 " Endangered Species " portfolio represented a new subject matter for him. The complex and dazzling color combinations make the animal images so irresistibly beautiful that one cannot help becoming involved in the environmentalist message conveyed.

In The Endangered Species Portfolio Warhol created a series of artworks that portrayed endangered animals from around the world. Using brilliant color characteristic of his signature style, and poignant expressions suggest the animals fate, Andy created a dynamic tension between art and reality.

The rare out of print collector's offset lithograph print is produced by Te Neues Publishing Company in cooperation with The Estate and The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, printed in Germany in 1989, with the official " AW " Foundation seal of authenticity printed on the print. This is a rare opportunity for true Warhol fans and collectors as this coveted image print is long out of print and very scarce to find.

The framed Endangered Species print measures 13 1/2" W X 17" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with glass in a Contemporary Modern royal sky blue matte eggshell finish wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The print is in excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition with very light signs of handling.
