Anyone who has visited New Orleans knows it's crammed with characters of every description. Important emerging artist Gunner Dongieux (New Orleans, San Francisco) grew up in the Big Easy, and here has captured the eccentricity which characterizes the city. You can see all sorts of characters here - even Fred Flintstone, smoking a cigarette! The shirtless streetcar conductor looks enough like the artist that I suspect it depicts him, grimly transporting this bizarre crew. Mixed with Ben Hur a bit, maybe. Yes, that's Rin Tin Tin, from the old movies.
Dongieux' Pop-based artwork has been exhibited at Sutton Galleries, 5 Press Gallery, and The Contemporary Art Center of New Orleans, in addition to numerous privately-hosted shows in New Orleans and San Francisco. He won Best in Show at the 2017 CAC exhibition ‘Revoir: To See Again’ with his collage painting "No More Parties in LA."
Proudly presented by Guy Lyman Fine Art, New Orleans, with our firm guarantee.
