The note on the reverse of this exquisite piece tells us that it was originally a wedding gift. Clothed in lavish attire, and with hints of an opulent decorative setting in the background, the sitter is evidently a prominent or royal figure; perhaps the husband-to-be of the recipient. Signed on the back [in spanish]; 'a la srta. Carmen redondo en el día de su boda. Afectuosamente, r. Moya' translation; 'to miss carmen redondo, on her wedding day. Affectionately, r. Moya' artist name: signed 'r.
