Vintage 1920s Italian Art Deco vitrine with attached storage drawer and cabinet veneered with matched burl figured olive wood and trimmed with walnut wood. The piece is well-built and finished with shellac.
The large glazed display cabinet is placed to the right of a shaped cabinet with a storage drawer at top.
The display cabinet has a flat rectangular wood top. The side panels are inset with beveled glass panes. The back of the interior is lined with burl figured olive wood veneer. Two glass shelves are provided for curio and china display; however, you may have wooden shelves made in order to hold books. The burled olive wood cabinet doors are inset with beveled glass panes. The carcase frame is executed in walnut wood and features carved floral lunettes with tree spacers of stepped Art Deco style. The doors do lock and a key is provided. The inset locks and latches are brass. The top latch is stamped "L.S." The vitrine back is constructed with three wood plank boards.
The shaped cabinet to the left of the vitrine is veneered in matched burl figured olive wood.
Below the top molded edge is a dovetailed frieze drawer. The shaped drawer front features an applied decoration of carved upright acanthus leaves, continuing the carved motif from the side.
Under the drawer is a cabinet fronted with a single curved door veneered with burl figured olive wood. The sculptural and geometric metal door hinges are stacked hexagonal pyramids. The door locks and a key is provided. The cabinet back is constructed with mortise and tenon joinery.
The metal keyhole escutcheons on the doors are oval.
The door and drawer pulls are sized appropriately for their placement and are matched marbleized thermoplastic flowers in tan and brown tones with centers of machine pressed antiqued brass bosses in foliated Art Deco relief designs. The spacers are of conical brass.
The carcase apron features carved nulling.
The elaborate base features chunky walnut wood turned columns set upon olive wood rounds. From each column sprouts three curved and ringed supports.
Representative of furniture made in Venice, Italy, this combination piece is the perfect blend of Art Deco and Venetian Baroque and will complement either interior style.
The impressive console may enhance a dining room, living room, parlor, entry way, office, library, powder room, and anywhere you need this statement piece.
The vitrine may hold artifacts, china, curios, books, sculpture, what-have-you.
The piece may serve as a cocktail cabinet with space to display your choice decanters and barware with room in the closed cabinet for bottles and a drawer for your napkins, swizzle sticks and stirrers. The closed cabinet top may serve as a prep station.
