This superb, complex and relatively large watercolor won the Ida Wells Stroud Memorial Award from the American Watercolor Society in 2008, as evidenced by the affixed plaque, and was part of the Society's traveling exhibition. It depicts a mother and her daughter having a coffee break together, the mom turning away from her reading material for a look out of the window, keeping her place in her book with her index finger, as her equally red-headed daughter concentrates on her studies. Masterful handling of the reflections in the glass, which turns the painting semi-abstract. $2,500 label from the tour still attached to back.
Dimensions given are with frame.
