A black lacquered and mother-of-pearl inlaid rectangular prunus. The low rounded sides are joined by canted incurved corners and set over the retractable side legs, to create an oversized lap tray, or gorgeous elevated centerpiece tray for table or bed.
There are leg supports that fold down to keep legs in place when extended.
Mother of pearl is in beautiful condition and is all intact as original.
One side has wooden plugs in the joints. The other side has metal knobs (see pictures) that I think are also original to the piece.
I have NO IDEA the age of this piece.
