Pair antique early 19th century Paris porcelain tea cups and saucers in the "Vintage" pattern - Rufus King service by … Read more Pair antique early 19th century Paris porcelain tea cups and saucers in the "Vintage" pattern - Rufus King service by Pochet-Deroche circa 1825. Decorated with grape vine borders on a salmon or apricot ground enhanced by rich gilding. Rufus King, of Massachusetts and New York, was a Revolutionary War hero, lawyer and a signer of the U.S. Constitution. This pattern was ordered for use at the American Legation in London, where King served two terms as Minister, the highest diplomatic rank at the time. Cups measure 4 1/4" across over handles; saucers measure 5 5/8" diameter. Good condition - decoration and gilding on the saucers is rubbed. See less
