Pair antique early 19th century Paris porcelain shell shaped serving dishes in the "Vintage" pattern - Rufus King service by Pochet-Deroche circa 1825.
Decorated with grape vine borders on a salmon or apricot ground enhanced by rich gilding. Rufus King, of Massachusetts and New York, was a Revolutionary War hero, lawyer and a signer of the U.S. Constitution. This pattern was ordered for use at the American Legation in London, where King served two terms as Minister, the highest diplomatic rank at the time.
Measure 9 1/4" x 9". Good condition - minor gilt rubbing.
