Artist Biography: Bevin Bering Dubrowski is a photography specialist and consultant. From 2009-2015 she served as Executive Director and Creative Director for Houston Center for Photography. Prior to serving on HCP’s staff, she was an active volunteer, a member of the Auction Committee, and briefly served on the Board of Directors before joining the staff. During her tenure as Executive Director, HCP’s budget grew from $425,000 to over $900,000 and the organization’s cash reserves grew from $40,000 to over $400,000. A great deal of this financial success was a result of growth within the annual Fine Art Auction as well as earned income through HCP’s Learning Center. Foundation, membership, and individual giving also rose during this time. Audience counts increased 4 fold, from 5,000 onsite visitors to over 20,000 onsite visitors. The exhibition, workshop, membership, publication, and fellowship programs all thrived, and Bevin was able to work with numerous artists to help them realize their vision in front of a public audience.
Bevin continues to serve on several committees for HCP and is available as a resource to the staff whenever needed.
Bevin is passionate about non-profit organizations—how they organize, thrive, sustain, develop, grow, and inspire. She continues to research non-profit best practices and potential. She also works with non-profit groups as a consultant to help them realize their goals.
Prior to 2009, Bevin was a working photographer and was Director of Bering & James Gallery based in Houston, TX from 2006-2009. Bevin’s photographs can be found in numerous collections such as Minute Maid, National Oilwell Varco, Fein Properties, Finger Properties, and Perry’s. Many of these works are site-specific permanent installations. Prior to 2006, Bevin crewed a professional boat out of St. John, USVI, and also worked as a divemaster. She still enjoys spending free time in, on, and around water. She holds a BA in Art History and Studio Art with an emphasis on photography from Emory University.
Bevin is a mom to a young toddler and an old dog. They currently both weigh 35 pounds and share a home with Bevin and her husband, Dan, in Houston, TX.
