A Louis XVI painted and gilt-decorated trumeau mirror circa 1780. The mirror is antique mercury surrounded by a water-gilded frame with decorative accents of laurel leaves. The top part of the trumeau features an oil on canvas painting of a pastoral scene, representing a lady and child fishing, surrounded by water-gilded accents with decorative laurel leaves. To complete the trumeau, 2 pilasters on each side are fitted on the base. They are water-gilded and feature a center "cartouche" at the base of the pilaster.
This trumeau was purchased at auction at Doyle New York on May 17, 2000, during their Important English and Continental Sale. It has been hanging in our living room since, bringing decor and light into the southern corner of our home.
The antique mirror is 23.5" in width and 24.25" in height in an antique gold frame. The painting above the mirror, 23.5"x23.5".
The piece is slightly damaged- the gold leaf around the columns is chipped in a few areas and one of the medallions surrounding the oil painting is missing.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
