Large Antique Persian Sultanabad Rug, rug , country of origin / type: Persian / Sultanabad, circa Early-20th Century.
Measures: 12'2 x 16'.
This beautiful antique Persian Sultanabad carpet draws from nature's designs for its inspiration. The oversized, cream-colored central medallion is composed of various palmettes, branches, Laurel leaves and flowers, which burst out upon the surrounding field of red. Likewise, the four cornices, composed of flowering branches in cream, reach out to the body's center. A multi-tiered border of small geometric designs constrains the border's body of repeating leaf and blossom motifs.
