By adding … Read more The series Pressed Wood by Johannes Hemann is based on the traditional technique of bent wood, with a twist. By adding pressure to freshly cut wood, Hemann is able to divide the wood's fibers, allowing for the later manipulation into various shapes. Afterward, the traditional bending technique is used: steaming the wood and bending it into molds. Finally, the fibrous wood is pressed into the mold using glue.
