Binary brass mirror by adam ruiz & robin hervé dimensions: 81 x 41 x 4 cm materials: sculpted brass and concrete hand-sculpted limited, signed and numbered from an edition of 10. Binary mirror similar to a golden skylight, its circular frame forms a crater with animated walls, which emerges from the surface where it is placed. It shelters a metal expanse, smooth and luminous, which opens on another space whose mirror delimits the border. The golden hues of the reflective surface contrast with the whiteness of the mineral. While returning the light of space, this reflection brings to the object a deep depth that extends beyond the support. Affirmed by the light, the reliefs are a case of moving material for the calm and precious surface of the metal. Playing with the boundaries of the environment, the mirror offers a contemplative vision. It creates an opening in the wall that supports it. It can thus be observed in a space bathed in golden light. Its natural and precious aspect takes us to a poetic and unreal universe. Metal and concrete are very commonly used together. Adam and robin have diverted these materials, to make them rediscover the aesthetic potential. They propose a re-reading by bringing a sensitive character, thus nourishing a dialogue with contemporary architecture. Consisting of a gueridon table and two mirrors, this series is based on contrasts that have been refined by choices of materials, surface conditions and volume equilibrium. The resulting objects establish an exchange between the crude, the random and the successful, the mastered. From these two aesthetics that oppose and complement each other, they create a language that recalls architecture and evokes the transformation of matter. This collection has been named ''binary'' in reference to the combination of the two universes, techniques and materials that compose it. Adam ruiz with a background in product design and his enthusiasm for metal, a simple but demanding material, adam studied metal arts and crafts at the ensaama olivier de serres. Thanks to these skills, he expresses his passion for design and makes by hand every objects he presents, from the original idea to the fabrication. His items reflect his strong attachment to hand work and craftsmanship, which is illustrated by his constant willingness to establish a dialogue between the fabrication process, and a minimal and contemporary aestheticism. You’ll find his hallmark, the three letters arz, minted on each of his pieces. Robin hervé following a course oriented towards the image and the drawing, robin initiates craft techniques of lime during his diploma of fresco-mosaic crafts at ensaama. A training complementary allows it to enrich these skills by others techniques of traditional and contemporary decor. It opens then at the work of the volume through the concrete sculpture. Through surface coatings, sculptures and decorative objects, he is conducting research on the balance between natural and artificial within the habitat. The aesthetics he creates are inspired by the observation of ''natural'' phenomena. They mention in particular the movements of matter, raw or shaped, and the impact of time on this one. Alternating workshop and on-site work, robin now designs contemporary architectural decor elements. These coatings and volume creations combine lime plaster, fresco painting and decorative masonry in concrete. He also collaborates with other craftsmen, for the realization of architectural decorations and painted decorations.
