A version of this chair is depicted in the Thonet catalogue of 1886 The catalogue of 1906 (page 14) also shows several variations of the chair. The chair was probably designed by Thonet. This is likely the basic version of the chair without any decoration. The set was produced by the Austrian architect/designer Josef Hoffmann. Both chairs have the original cast iron joints ("Eisenstütze") between seat and rear legs. In original condition. This piece has an attribution mark,
