He … Read more In the 1950s, Pieter De Bruyne (1931-1987) joined the Belgian furniture designers who concentrated on modern social furniture . He was convinced that furniture, in addition to its aesthetic value, must be reasonably priced. His early work was characterized by rational construction and sober structures. This cabinet is a nice example of the early work of Pieter De Bruyne. It is designed in 1959 for Al Meubel. This low cabinet is made of ash wood covered with a transparent beige varnish. The base is very nice detailed with metal parts. Take a look at the detail pictures! This cabinet is in good condition with signs of age and use. Pieter De Bruyne was very strict and accurate, unhappy experiences with furniture manufacturers, who always changed his designs, forced him to return to one-off, handmade pieces in the 1960s.
