the piece comprises with a wood part of four drawers arranged across a well-proportioned carcass: a narrow upper drawer with a moulded façade and a single annular brass pull. It is crowned by a thick black marble top with grey and white veining and canted corners. The four lower drawers are fitted with paired round patinated brass knobs and brass keyhole escutcheons. Slightly projecting columns accent each corner of the case, and the whole rests on characteristic louis-philippe console feet with cut facets. The drawer interiors are lined in pine. The walnut patina is rich and deep, with the natural warmth of age that only time can produce.

it will integrate beautifully into a haussmann apartment, a refined country interior or a contemporary space seeking the quiet authority of nineteenth-century french furniture. The marble top makes it equally practical as a sideboard, an entry console or a bedroom chest.

condition is good overall, with traces of wear consistent with its age — light surface marks on the feet and corners, and a small chip on one angle of the marble top, as noted.
