Bright yellow blossoms and a vivid red flower emerge from an expressive arrangement of green and deep blue foliage, set against a dramatic, dark background. The artist's confident handling of paint, spontaneous brushwork and expressive use of colour create a composition full of movement, texture and character.

About the Artist

Frans Lundberg (1903–1993) was a Swedish painter born in Värmland. Originally trained as a textile engineer, he devoted himself to painting from approximately 1945 onwards.

Primarily self-taught, with some artistic guidance from his brother Gerhard Lundberg, Lundberg developed a distinctive style characterised by expressive brushwork, atmospheric compositions and a confident use of colour.

His artistic production includes landscapes, cityscapes and still-life compositions, executed in oil, tempera, watercolour and pastel.

His works are represented in private collections and Swedish museum collections, including Kristianstad Museum.
