Fantastic RARE complete set of Swid Powell "Beans" Coffee Serive for 8. Whimsical Postmodern design - features raised coffee beans - and includes 4 "Cafe" and 4 "Decafe" mugs. The "cafe" mugs have eyes wide open on the alternate side of the mug - and the "decaf" has starry eyes shut. Each piece is hand painted in variations of black, browns, tah and burgandys and then glazed. The adorable sugar holder has 2 ceramic cubes of sugar for the handles. The creamer and coffee pot have comfortable handles a - the pot includes an adorable top. According to Womens Wear Daily "Charles Masson—the renowned restaurateur (historically of New York's La Grenouille)—designed notable tabletop and ceramic collections for the luxury home design company Swid Powell (active 1982–2001)".
The "Bean" Series: A post-modern ceramic collection featuring relief coffee bean decorations, typically crafted in dark brown or glossy finishes (comprising coffee pots, creamers, open sugar bowls, and mugs).
Some of the pieces retain the original sticker labels on the underside.
