On the Design:

Western Anatolian weaving guilds in Oushak transformed the landscape of international interior arts during the sixteenth century, rising to prominence as master weavers to the Ottoman imperial court. Highly prized across Renaissance palaces and depicted by European painters for their fluid botanical scale, classic Oushak carpets broke free from rigid Persian court geometry in favor of a relaxed, painterly approach to floral ornamentation. This contemporary work draws directly from that classical lineage, adapting monumental palmette scrolls through an artful distressed weave that evokes the gentle wear of an authentic centuries-old heirloom. Master weavers achieved this antique patina by blending hand-carded wool with natural silk, uniting historic loom methods with a softened, modern atmosphere.
