Oil painting A copy of Rembrandt
Willem Drost (born April 19, 1633 in Amsterdam, buried February 25, 1659 in Venice) - Dutch painter of the Baroque period.
In the late 1740s he was a student of Rembrandt. In 1650 he left for Rome, where he met the Caravaggionists: Johann Karl Loth and Jan van der Meer. 1657 he settled in Venice. In a later style of creativity, Rembrandt comes to life.
He painted biblical, mythological and genre scenes and portraits. He is credited with many works traditionally considered to be paintings by Rembrandt.
