Description

A beautifully framed panoramic color reproduction of Norman Rockwell's celebrated Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas, also known as Home for Christmas, originally created in 1967 for McCall's magazine.

Depicting the picturesque town of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, the composition captures the nostalgic charm of a traditional New England Christmas. Snow-covered streets, softly illuminated historic buildings, and the Berkshire landscape create a timeless winter scene.

Reportedly acquired in connection with the opening promotion of the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, this example is a Norman Rockwell Family Trust-authorized reproduction and is presented with matting and an oak frame.

Of particular interest is the inscription beneath the image reading “Sincerely, Norman Rockwell,” attributed to the artist's hand. Accompanying historical materials include a February 11, 1993, USA Today article about Stockbridge and the Norman Rockwell Museum, together with a 1993 advertisement from the Norman Rockwell Gallery for a Family Trust-authorized reproduction of the same artwork.

The advertised dimensions of 31½" × 10⅞" correspond to the full dimensions of the present print beneath its matting. The advertisement also describes oak framing and linen matting, consistent with this example's presentation. The advertised reproduction was printed on canvas; the material of the present example has not been conclusively identified.

A distinctive piece of Americana, this framed panoramic Rockwell print offers enduring appeal for collectors of American illustration, traditional interiors, and nostalgic holiday artwork.
