Masterfully sculpted from a single piece of natural variegated soapstone, this piece features organic earth-toned mottling with light beige, tan, and faint olive undertones.

The folk figure is presented in a traditional seated pose, showcasing an exceptionally detailed, joyous expression, a remarkably prominent round belly symbolizing prosperity, and an ornate, fan-like sunburst halo panel rising up behind him. He holds a classic string of prayer beads (mala) in his right hand, draping down elegantly next to his detailed robed garments.

Provenance Note:
The underside retains its original historical labels, adding a delightful layer of provenance. It features the official vintage red-bordered "Made in the People's Republic of China" export tag alongside a handwritten collector's note detailing its purchase in August 1992 during a family vacation at the China Pavilion shop ("China Village" marketplace gallery) inside Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center.

This charming figural sculpture functions beautifully as a cultural accent piece on an entry console, a layered bookshelf vignette, or as a serene addition to any Zen-inspired or souvenir-themed interior. See less
