A striking vintage sculptural wine bottle holder designed by renowned Mexican silversmith Emilia Castillo and handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico, during the 1980s. Inspired by the graceful form of a blooming calla lily, this elegant piece beautifully combines Mexican Modernist design, traditional metalworking techniques, and organic botanical motifs.
The holder is crafted from solid copper with a silver-plated finish and brass accents. Its dramatically curved, sculptural leaf forms a cradle for a wine bottle, while a delicate spiraling stem culminates in a beautifully modeled calla lily blossom. The contrasting brass detail adds warmth to the polished silver surfaces.
The sculptural composition rises from an oval copper base featuring a rich turquoise-green verdigris patina, creating a striking contrast with the reflective silver-plated elements. The interplay of materials, textures, and flowing botanical forms exemplifies Castillo's distinctive approach to decorative metalwork.
Both functional and decorative, this collectible Mexican wine bottle holder makes a beautiful addition to a home bar, dining room, wine cellar, or curated bar cart. When not in use, it stands alone as an elegant piece of tabletop sculpture.

About Emilia Castillo
Born in 1958, Emilia Castillo grew up immersed in the celebrated silversmithing traditions of Taxco, Mexico. She is the daughter of Antonio Castillo, founder of the renowned Los Castillo workshop, one of the most influential names in 20th-century Mexican silver design.
Building upon her family's artistic legacy, Emilia developed a distinctive design vocabulary combining silver-plated metals, copper, brass, natural stones, and nature-inspired sculptural forms. Her work frequently incorporates leaves, flowers, birds, and other organic motifs, transforming functional household accessories into collectible works of decorative art.
Her creations are appreciated by collectors of Mexican Modernism and complement the work of other celebrated Mexican designers and silversmiths, including William Spratling, Antonio Pineda, Héctor Aguilar, Margot de Taxco, and Los Castillo.
