Vivid green glass at the neck transitions into a paler body, allowing the elaborate gold decoration to stand out. A broad band of scrolling foliage encircles the shoulders, with delicate leafy garlands suspended below. The coordinating stopper repeats the green and gold palette.

Ludwig Moser established his glass-decorating workshop in Karlsbad in 1857. By the turn of the century, the firm had earned international recognition, exhibiting at the 1900 Paris World Exhibition. This carafe reflects that Belle Époque taste for richly decorated glass, combining luminous color with intricate botanical ornament. moser.com

Its flattened profile gives the piece an especially graceful silhouette, while the clear handle provides a light counterpoint to the richly gilded body. An appealing example of antique Bohemian decorative glass, complete with its stopper.
