A richly colored still life by Michel Guédron (1937–2012), depicting a wicker basket filled with fruit beside a lidded pewter pitcher. Apples, grapes, and peaches gather within the basket, while purple plums spill across the warm wooden tabletop. Carefully placed highlights bring out the translucent grapes, polished fruit skins, and softly reflective metal.
Guédron was a French painter associated with Alsace, whose documented work includes village scenes and landscapes alongside this still life. Here, he treats a traditional subject with a vivid palette and lively brushwork, setting precisely described objects against a loosely painted background.
Burnt orange, burgundy, deep teal, and umber sweep behind the arrangement, echoing the fruit’s colors and giving the composition unusual energy. An ornate gold-toned frame with floral and scrolling ornament and a cream fabric liner completes the presentation.
