A hand-painted Persian pottery wall tile, attributed to the late Qajar period (about 1880–1930). It's painted under the glaze with stylised flowers (a large carnation-type bloom and three daisy-like flowers) in cobalt blue, turquoise, mauve-pink, ochre-yellow and green, with black outlines on a cream ground and a hand-drawn cobalt border.
It's a genuine architectural tile: the back still has old mortar and age staining from its original installation. The surface is hand-made and irregular, with glaze that pools thicker in places, gently uneven edges and fine crazing all over, as you'd expect from tiles of this type.
Great for a shelf or easel, or for framing and hanging.
