One depicts ducks taking flight over windswept marsh grasses, while the companion piece captures a largemouth bass leaping from a lily-covered pond toward a dragonfly. Both illustrations feature the artist’s signature reproduced within the image.

James L. Lockhart was an accomplished American wildlife illustrator whose work appeared in publications including Sports Afield, Collier’s, and The Saturday Evening Post. Known for his detailed portrayals of North American wildlife, Lockhart was also involved with Ducks Unlimited and wildlife conservation.

Rendered in a sophisticated palette of earthy greens, warm browns, soft blues, and natural tones, these coordinating vintage prints are professionally framed beneath glass with deep green mats and complementary weathered gray wood frames. Both retain their Virginia’s Framery labels from Knoxville, Tennessee, on the reverse.
