Exhibiting an exceptionally rich, beautifully aged dark charcoal-brown patina, this antique early 20th-century handcrafted willow twig gathering basket brings authentic European character and sculptural texture to any interior curation.
Distinct from tapered styles, this premium piece features a robust, low-slung jardinière silhouette with straight, substantial walls that sit flat on a wide-profile structural basin. Handwoven from unpeeled natural willow twigs using a traditional twined pairing weave, its tight, thick-gauge body showcases exceptional structural integrity. The basket is beautifully framed by a substantial, heavy twisted rod rim and is crowned by a high single handle formed from a meticulously twisted bundle of natural branches.
Perfectly aligned with Organic Modern, Dark Academia, and rustic European sensibilities, this versatile statement piece is ideal for grounding an entry console, styling a hearth, or displaying soft textiles.

Dating to the late 19th century, the basket features a beautifully oxidized, deep multi-tonal gray-brown patina on its unpeeled willow rods that only develops through decades of natural exposure. The hand-cut twig nodes are thoroughly weathered and darkened to match the outer bark, proving its authentic antique era. The reinforced central base slats show smooth, friction-rounded edges from historic utilitarian farm use, while the entire structure and thick twisted branch handle remain rock-solid and tightly bound. Free of major breaks or brittle unweaving. less
