Designed with a subtle parchment-toned background and beautifully balanced hues, this map delivers an upscale, traditional library feel without looking like an ordinary classroom tool. It features up-to-date political boundaries, clear city and country labels, and color-matched topographical relief maps to emphasize mountain ranges and elevation changes. The height of the mercator map is 34 inches, the width if 52 inches and the depth of the map is 1 1/8. It was made in the 1990's. Cartographically, it uses an executive Africa-centered projection, which allows every continent and country to remain complete and intact without splits or awkward edge distortion. Housed in a dark, clean-lined gallery moulding frame, this impressive piece functions equally well as a sophisticated design element and as an interactive, real-world reference to escape the glow of digital screens. I found this map during an expitition while traveling through a little town on our way back east. See less
