This elegant vintage wooden tray is a stunning example of traditional Asian craftsmanship. Crafted from richly grained, dark sandalwood, this square tray features a raised gallery edge with subtle scalloped details and decorative metal studs.
The central surface is beautifully adorned with intricate mother-of-pearl (nacre) inlay work. The delicate shell marquetry depicts a vibrant scene of birds in flight amongst blossoming peonies and branches, creating a striking contrast against the deep, warm tones of the wood grain.
Elevated on a subtle footed base, this tray is a highly versatile and elegant piece. It is perfect for serving tea, displaying fine porcelain or incense burners, or simply as a striking decorative accent on a coffee table, console, or dresser.
