Flush mount model 3055 ceiling lamp by Gino Sarfatti, manufactured by Arteluce, Italy, 1962. This iconic flush mount is a distilled expression of Gino Sarfatti’s radical yet disciplined approach to lighting design during the early 1960s. Conceived at a moment when Italian design was redefining domestic and architectural lighting, model 3055 balances technical precision with a quiet sculptural presence. Its circular form is deliberately restrained, allowing material quality and light behavior to take center stage. The lamp features a black lacquered aluminum body, chosen for its strength, lightness, and refined industrial character. The surface retains its original Arteluce sticker, an increasingly rare detail that anchors the piece firmly in its historical context and confirms its authenticity. The construction feels purposeful and exact, reflecting Sarfatti’s lifelong fascination with engineering solutions and modular lighting systems. At the center sits a frosted prismatic glass diffuser, beautifully preserved and integral to the lamp’s visual and functional identity. The textured glass gently filters the light, producing a soft and even glow while reducing glare, making the lamp equally suited for residential interiors and more architectural settings. Designed to accommodate two bulbs with a maximum of 60 watts each, the lamp offers generous illumination without overpowering the space. The piece has been carefully checked and cleaned in our atelier, ensuring proper functionality and safety. It is suitable for use in the USA, though not UL listed, and further options can be discussed upon request. Model 3055 stands as a clear example of Sarfatti’s enduring legacy, where clarity of form, technical innovation, and timeless restraint converge into a lighting object that remains as relevant today as it was in 1962.
