A sculptural pair of French wall sconces, made around 1950 and attributed to Maison Lunel, crafted in brass, copper, and metal.
Each piece is conceived as a three-dimensional botanical composition emerging from a conical, perforated metal base. from this base rise long, curved stems and worked sheet metal leaves, culminating in stylized floral corollas that house the light sources.
The combination of warm metals, embossed and modeled leaves, and plant forms with a strong sculptural presence lends the set a particularly decorative character. The perforated lower sections also provide an attractive textural contrast and reflect the meticulous craftsmanship of the pieces.
Their naturalistic and organic style shows clear affinities with French decorative lighting of the 1950s and 1960s, and in particular with the work associated with Maison Lunel, a firm renowned for its plant-inspired luminaires made of brass and other metals.
Maison Lunel operated in Paris during the mid-20th century and was associated with Raymond Lunel, who was later linked to Royal Lumière.
Both wall sconces are in very good overall condition, with slight signs of use and a pleasing patina befitting their age. The wiring has been checked and is functioning correctly.
