At the center of a palatial architectural setting, the young woman is surrounded by servants who are preparing her; tapestries, columns, and precious fabrics lend the scene its theatrical character. The watercolor highlights add depth and softness to the details of the composition. Presented in an antique frame with a mat, this enhanced print offers an elegant decorative presence and a rich narrative subject. The composition is inspired by the painting by Jean-François de Troy, painted in 1738 and held at the Louvre Museum. This work was conceived in the context of the tapestry series "The Story of Esther" intended for the Gobelins Manufactory.
