the lamp requires one e27/e26 edison screw-fit bulb, is wired, in working condition, and operates on both 110 and 230 volts.

the peill & son glassworks in düren, destroyed in world war ii, and the putzler brothers glassworks from penzig, expropriated by the polish state, merged in 1946. This resulted in the düren plant in 1952, under the directors günther peill and hans ahrenkiel, operating under the name peill + putzler. The first glass was melted in 1948. This important glassworks ceased operations in 1994. Important designers such as professor wagenfeld, wilhelm braun-feldweg, and aloys f. Gangkofner worked for the peill + putzler glassworks, making it well-known, especially among architects. The collaboration with aloys f. Gangkofner spanned from 1953 to 1958, resulting in a wide variety of lighting fixtures and stemware sets. The timeless iris glass was produced and sold until the 1980s.

aloys f. Gangkofner developed new techniques for blowing glass into the light fixtures, techniques he had already tested using free-blowing methods in waldsassen. The implementation of these techniques for industrial production freed the designs from the functional austerity of the early 1950s, giving them individual character. The light fixtures not only served their purpose but also, even when unlit, created striking forms for modern spaces. One particularly successful model was "venezia." this piece has an attribution mark,
