A newly restored set of Brazilian modernist dining chairs in rosewood and mohair, produced by Móveis Cimo in the 1960s.
The design is clean and rectilinear, with tall, upright backs framed by slender rosewood beams and sharply tapered legs. The absence of stretcher bars gives the chairs an especially light profile. Simple ivory mohair upholstery provides a quiet contrast to the richly toned rosewood and its varied grain.
The set was fully disassembled and rebuilt joint by joint to ensure that each chair is free from creaks or wobble. The seats and backs were reupholstered inside and out with new webbing and foam beneath the mohair fabric. The seats were webbed for a firm, supportive sit that matches the more upright character of the backs.
Overall, the set presents beautifully, with the restoration preserving the crisp geometry of the original design while bringing the structure and upholstery back to like-new condition.
