Add a touch of traditional elegance and auspicious symbolism to your tea service or home decor with this striking vintage Sandalwood (Tanmu) tea tray.
The tray features a beautifully scalloped, undulating edge with a rich, dark reddish-brown wood grain. The centerpiece is a highly intricate Mother-of-Pearl (shell) inlay depicting two playful Chinese guardian lions (often called Foo Dogs) frolicking with a large, vibrant red embroidered ball and swirling ribbons.
In traditional Asian culture, this classic motif represents joy, good luck, and the passing down of authority and prosperity from generation to generation. The combination of the dark wood and the luminous, multi-colored shell inlay creates a stunning visual contrast.
Perfect for traditional tea ceremonies, serving snacks, or simply as a captivating decorative piece displayed on a coffee table or console.
