This is a striking vintage statue of Skanda (Weituo), the Buddhist guardian deity, crafted from solid copper/bronze and finished with vibrant polychrome enamel painting. The figure stands in a commanding, upright pose upon a stylized cloud base, wearing elaborate armor detailed with scale patterns, a central mythical beast face at the chest, and a gilded crown.
The statue features dramatic, flowing red and blue ribbons draped around the figure, adding a sense of dynamic movement. The face is finely detailed with a serene yet vigilant expression, and the gilded surfaces show a rich, aged patina. In Chinese Buddhist tradition, Skanda is the devoted protector of the Dharma and the monastery, making this a powerful and meaningful piece for collectors of Asian religious art or as a focal point in a curated space.
