A wearable kaleidoscope of Venetian glass. This vintage Murano necklace features individually worked millefiori beads decorated with colorful flowers, stars, spirals, and concentric-eye motifs. Rich, dark glass backgrounds bring the turquoise, cobalt, scarlet, yellow, green, and white patterns into vivid focus.
Delicate scalloped gold-tone bead caps and bright red accents frame each bead, while slight variations in shape and decoration give the strand its handmade character. Finished with a gold-tone screw-barrel clasp.
Measures approximately 29 inches long.
Believed to date to the mid-20th century. Acquired as vintage approximately 30 years ago and retained in a private collection since. No specific glassmaker has been identified.
