Slender and elegant solid wood floor-standing pedestal column with a twisted Solomonic column design, a refined piece of Italian cabinetmaking dating back to the 1960s.
· Subject and Style: Central shaft with a continuous helical twist of classical and baroque inspiration, connected by baluster elements and surmounted by a circular shelf with a molded edge, supported by a solid circular stepped base.
· Material and Finish: Turned solid wood in an elegant and warm dark walnut hue with a polished finish, enhanced by the natural grain of the wood.
· Ideal for: Highlighting busts, sculptures, art vases, planters, or table lamps in elegant entryways, foyers, living areas, and high-quality classic or rustic settings.
Technical Details and Condition:
· Type: Floor-standing pedestal column / Twisted flowerpot holder.
Style: Classical / Baroque, torchon.
Manufacturer / Origin: Attributable to Italian cabinetmaking (unmarked).
Materials: Solid turned wood.
Era: Attributable to the 1960s (20th Century / Vintage).
Dimensions: Top shelf diameter 23 cm, Total height 106 cm.
Condition: Very good overall condition, vintage-style. Solid, sound, and perfectly stable wooden structure; torchon turning intact; glossy surface with light, normal signs of aging consistent with its age and use; as shown in the photograph, the top shelf exhibits a natural, physiological grain/cracking due to shrinkage, a typical feature of solid wood over time that does not compromise its solidity or excellent aesthetics.
