The lamp features a beautifully rounded ceramic body with rich, warm brown glazing and subtle horizontal variations in tone, creating an almost wood-like appearance. Its sculptural spherical form is complemented by refined brass details and a natural woven wicker shade.

The contrast between the smooth, richly glazed ceramic surface and the organic texture of the wicker creates a sophisticated balance of materials, characteristic of Scandinavian design during the mid-20th century.

Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) was one of the most influential figures in Scandinavian ceramic design. Born in Paris to Finnish and Danish parents, he became particularly renowned for his work at Rörstrand, where he served as artistic director and developed a distinctive approach to form, glazing, and craftsmanship.

His work is celebrated for its elegant proportions, refined surfaces, and harmonious relationship between traditional craftsmanship and modernist design.

This table lamp represents the timeless qualities of Swedish Modern design, combining sculptural simplicity, natural materials, and understated elegance.
