German earthenware plate (Steingut / Irdenware) with slip-painted floral decoration.
Red-brown lead-glazed ground. The well is painted in white slip with green accents: a central spray of leaves and tendrils. A white line frames the well.
The rim is decorated with running S-scrolls, dotted groups and short strokes in the same white and green.
These plates belong to the South German and Alpine peasant tradition — thrown, slip-trailed and glazed for the table, not for the factory dinner service. The drawing is freehand.
